HU Rector Prize for excellence in teaching and research for 2015 was awarded to Prof. Israel Nelken.
Prof. Israel Nelken is an outstanding researcher in the field of brain sciences. His research is multidisciplinary - a combination of theoretical, computational and practical tools. Prof. Nelkin grew up and was educated on the love of music, which drives his creative world and his scientific work: Prof. Nelken explores how the brain processes sounds, and how the processing of information generates interesting sensations in the brain, such as pleasure or panic. Prof. Nelken is a leading scientist and well known in these fields of research, both in his conclusions and in his unique research approach. Prof. Nelken is an outstanding teacher. For many years, Prof. Nelken has devoted his efforts to the nurturing, education and teaching of the students in the program for the calculation and processing of information in the neuroscience, a program that has become under his leadership a lively hostel for outstanding students and researchers from all over the university and the world.
