Research Interests

We  study how can some ecological communities harbor hundreds of relatively similar species in a small area, while others have just a few? Why do ecological communities change in space and time, and what can these changes teach us? And how can we use data science and models to study these extremely complex systems?

Dissertation Topics

  1. Do trees repell their own kind more in tropical forests?
  2. Do interactions between species maintain high species diversity?
  3. How can we evaluate the competition between tree species that inhabit the same habitat?
  4. How many species can potentially coexist in tropical and temperate forests?
